Our election of officers was the first important event of the year. Patricia DeCoursey was elected president, David Gasklll, vice president, Joyce Kidwell, secretary, Larry Nolte, treasurer. We were officially wel- comed by an initiation given by the seniors. The boys looked "stunning" in their shorts and midriffs while the girls attracted plenty of attention in their nighties. We put much time and effort into preparing for the colored minstrel which we gave at the carnival. Our attendants to the carnival '55-'56 king and queen were Donna Kumpf and Larry Ringo. Our freshman year proved very suc- cessful, thanks to our sponsor, Mr. Kumpf. Summer vacation rolled by quickly and we returned in a group of thirty-nine sophomores. We were guided through our secondyear of high school by our sponsor, Mrs. Beldon. Our class officers were: president, Robert Burnsgvice president, David Gaskill, secretary, Jim Buell, and treasurer, Louise Rogers. We presented a variety show at the carnival. Donna Kumpf and Larry Ringo were again chosen as candidates for king and queen. Although our teachers kept us quite busy, we found time for outside activities. One of the highlights of this year was our class picnic at McCormicks Creek. It was really lots of fun. Our junior year flew by quickly, because we all kept busy. Our class officers were president, Don Francis, vice president, Joyce Kidwellg secretary, Drusilla Ballinger, and treasurer, Donna Kumpf. Our first big event of the year was the customary trip to Turkey Run on which we took the seniors. We all came back tired and dirty, but the day behind us was one full of fun. Carnival time soon rolled around. Our side show was a Lawrence Welk Show. Deanna Beeson and Jim Buell were our candidates for king and queen and we worked like troopers trying to make money to beat the seniors. Following the Carnival, we began work on our class play. It was titled "Sneak Date" and was directed by Mrs. Jackson. Pat DeCoursey was selected to attend Girls State the following summer. Our class sponsor for the year was Mrs. Rightsell. Returning in the fall of '58 we felt very important as seniors. Our class officers were: presi- dent, Kenny Puckett, vice president, Robert Burns, secretary, Domia Kumpf, treasurer, Pat De- Courseygand sponsors, Mrs. Rightsell and Mrs. Layer. The first event of the year was the annual trip to Turkey Run. We went as guests this year. Carnival time soon rolled around to find us all very busy. We elected Louise Rogers and Jack Lawson carnival king and queen of '58 and '59. Drusilla Ballinger was elected as our D. A. R. candidate. We went to Indianapolis to visit state legislature. On April 19 we left on our senior trip. We spent a very enjoyable week in Washington D. C. 3 New York City, and Ontario, Canada where we visited Niagara Falls. We returned and ended our high school days with our Commencement services on May 4. Robert Burns and Pat DeCoursey were our valedictorian and salutatorian respectively. All and all, we feel as if our high school life was very succesf:f'gl 6111.95 Praphecy On May 4, 1969, our train was leaving the station. "Tickets, tickets," called the conductor. I reached in my purse, and suddenly realized that I had left them at home. As Iglanced up to explain to the conductor, I realized that he was none other than Don Francis. Don smiled as he explained that we could pay him the necessary amount, and we wouldn't have to worry about our tickets. I asked Don if he had heard from any of our former classmates. He said that Bob Pickett was the manager of the Cincinnati Red Legs. Bob told Don that three of his best players were Jim Buell, Larry Nolte, and Ronnie Wesley. He said all of these boys are still unmarried. Ihave often wondered why no one has trapped them yet. Don then informed us that the engineer of the train was Dick Brown. We were very glad to learn that Dick had done so well for himself. We arrived in New Yorkand boarded the S. S. United States. When we walked up the gang plank, whom should we see but David Gaskill. As we talked with Dave, he told us that he was now the president of the Du Pont Corporation. Dave told us that Ruth Biggs had just gotten married to a millionaire from Beverly Hills, California. Dave also informed us the captain ol the ship was none other than Larry Ringo. He said that Larry's wife, the former Donna Kumpf, was the social director of the ship. We then went to Larry's cabin to visit with him. While talking to Larry, he told us that he sees JohnKracy quite often when he goes to the A Sr P to get supplies for his ship. He said John is now manager of one of the stores in New York. We then left the cabin to eat our supper. We were very much surprised when a sophisticated gentleman with an Evansville accent served our supper. Ifinally secured enough courage to ask him if he was Kent Reik. Sure enough, it was Kent. He then told us he was married and had four lovely daughters. On May 12, we arrived in France. Whom should we happen to see but the former Sharon Hofmann and her husband Sam Haddon. Sharon was there vacationing with her husband and three lovely children. Sharon told us that Sandra Atkinson was still happily married and had two fine boys. Sharon also informedus that Shirley Baysinger was a beauty operator in New York City. She said Shirley had been married five years and had a daughter. We left to go to our hotel. After we had rung for room service several times in vain, I called the manager. To my surprise, I learned he was the one and only Darrell Siegelin. Darrell apolo- gized for our delay in room service and explained to us that they were very busy. He then told us that Nancy Catterlin, still unmarried, was a physical education teacher at a Lmiversity in Paris. Suddenly, the lights went out. The hotel engineers were unable to locate the difficulty. Just then a man with a loud voice shouted, "What in the world is the matter with the lights?" "Wayne Gilbert," said Darrell. as a smile came over his face. "If anyone can fix those lights he can." Sure enough, in just a matter of minutes the lights were on. Wayne asked us if we had heard about Jack Lawson. He said that Jack was about to start his own T. V. Show, and that he was going to be the chief engineer on Jack's Show. On May 17, we left France for a journey to the merry country of England. We arrived there on May 18, and were ready to go to our hotel when all of a sudden my husband was shot with a squirt gun filled with ink. "BuddyI " shoutedafamiliar voice. Iturned around, and to my delight, I saw it was the former Joyce Kidwell. Joyce said she was a laboratory technician in California. Joyce then told us that she had received a letter from Pat De Coursey a week ago. She said Pat is teaching home econo- mics in Alaska. She said Pat was going to be married to an Air Force Colonel next month. On May 24, we left the airport in England to go to Canada. We were very much surprised to learn that Drusilla Ballinger was the airline hostess on the plane we were taking to Canada. Drusilla told us that the pilot of the plane was Kenny Puckett. We then left Drusilla to go to the cockpit to talk to Kenny. He told us that the former Deanna Beeson had flown to England a few weeks ago to see her husband, Jim Casassa, play professional basketball. Kenny said Deanna had five fine boys. As we continued to talk with Kenny, he informed us that the two best mechanics in the United States are Robert and Donald Smith, now married to twin sisters from Iowa. On May 25, we landed in Quebec, Canada. As we were waiting for a taxi, I happened to see another old school mate, Martha Hofmann. She told us that she had been there visiting the former Margaret Killion, who is now married to a civil engineer. Martha said Margaret's husband was ready to build an Air Force Base in Quebec. She saidRobertBurns, nowhead mathematician atl. B. M., was coming to Quebec to start a new I. B. M. Plant. We thanbid Martha a farewell as she got on her plane to fly to Hawaii where she is teaching home economics. On May 27, we started home on the plane.
