AS THE FINAL days of the Golden Year draw to a close, we pause
at the crossroads of our school life and look back over vistas we have
left behind us - four cherished high school years.
It seems only yesterday that we first entered Star as eager, bright-
eyed freshmen. Everything was novel, different, exhilarating, and, as
the weeks and months went by, we applied ourselves with a will to Alma
Mater's every project.
Our freshman and sophomore years passed all too quickly, and the
junior year was upon us. We were upperclassmen at last! Drill-team
champions, Beyond the Coral Reef, and Blossom Time - these are
among the most cherished memories of our junior year.
Came September, 1953, and we found ourselves seniors, enjoying the
dignity, deference, and prestige awarded forthcoming graduates. A new
sense of responsibility settled on our shoulders, and we set about to make
this, our final year, the best. Intermingled with our duties were the
wonderful highlights of our senior year: the Recollection Days, Talk of
the Town, Senior Privileges, Sneak Day, and the Senior Exclusive.
And now Commencement! We take one last, fond look at the wide
vista of precious memories and then set forth upon life's highway.
Our future lies before us
Like drifts of pure white snow,
How carefully we shall tread it,
Since every step will show!
