O' uta uuCctup SetUon, ROSE THORNTON Rose Thornton was voted Outstanding Senior this year by the high school faculty. This is one of the highest honors that a senior can receive. Rose participated in many extracurricular activities in school, maintained a high scholastic record, and was active in her church. She was elected to the National Honor Society in her junior year, and served as president of the Student Body in 1959-60. She was a member of the Commercial Club, Future Homemakers, Safe Drivers Club, Science Club. Future Teachers, Pep Club, Band, the ROCKET Staff, junior cheerleader 2 years, senior cheerleader 3 years, and served as secretary of her class during her senior year. Other honors which she won were FFA Sweetheart 1959, Miss Lincoln County 1958, Homecoming Queen 1959, and was in the ROCKET Beauty Court for 3 years. She also served as organist in her church. 14 Other seniors nominated by the faculty were Johnnie Mac Thomasson, Carolyn Chambliss, Billy McGehee, Ted Nichols, Harry Lee Shannon, Ray Wynn, and Ernestine Harper.
