The ancient world has become familiar to us Through the studies of history, geog- raphy and economics, while present situations are crystallized in contem- porary affairs. Perhaps the most eloquent expres- sion of any age is its art, which remains as an indication of the advances and declines, the influences and reactions of past civilizations. The goals and frus- trations of our people and the beauty and history of ages past are captured and preserved as a visual and aesthetic expression of progress. Behind the scenes in our modern age are those who manage business, who see that each stage of development is smoothly and efficiently recorded for posterity. Trained in office skills, our secretaries and stenographers, clerks and accountants are working behind the desks of America to do their part in insuring flawless operation. Our knowledge of English, the most versatile, most expressive, most flex- ible language known, is the link be- tween our world and the stars. We dis- cussed the profound literary giants forming a chain from the glorious past, up to the curious present, and into the mysterious future.
