Administrations 9 MR. RICHARD LEWIS English, Tennis Coach, Univer- sity of Puget Sound, B.A., B.Ed. THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT is probably the main concern for all college bound students. It is in the English classes that students learn to com- pose, write, and appreciate good literature. Com- munication is a very important factor in our very complex world, and a person must be able to write or speak in the correct way so that others will have a full understanding of what he is saying. Studying the writings of certain great people in literature such as Shakespeare, Thoreau, and T. S. Eliot. students learn to develop a style of their own. At Stadium there are many high achievement English classes, and capable students are urged to attend them. In Mr. Arpke's Advanced Place- ment class, exceptional students are further pre- pared for college. The knowledge that is gained in these English classes will be of unending value to Stadium students, no matter what their future plans may be. MR. J. Administrations 1 1 THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT offered students many different courses this year in order to pro- vide a broad basic program. Physiology, botany, zoology, chemistry, physics, physical science, and a course dealing with both chemistry and physics, were made available to the Stadium students. Students have witnessed a change in the chemistry course this year. In the past, students have studied chemistry through the traditional ap- proach-learning facts and then applying them. Now with the new CHEM study program, students learn through experimentation and procedure. This new program has proved to be of interest to both faculty and students. Science has become an important, integral part of our society, and students are urged to take an active part in this program, and keep informed of the new developments and inventions in this iield. The knowledge they attain will be of lasting value. MR. WORTHY C. KANARR Science, Bookroom Manager, Tardy Desk, Linfield College, B.S. MR, JOHN R. HEINRICK MR. RICHARD M.
