Ieff Hartel and all my other co-workers. In sports I'd like to give my goofs and misses to jim Souder and my football plays to Don Salz. I hope that God will bless our minds and souls so that.we may know and do God's will. O my jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of hell, lead all souls to heaven and help especially those most in need of Thy mercy. - B.V.M. at Fatima VMIGUEL MENDEZ Y I I am happy here but now I must leave this place and just make it a memorytin my mind. Yes, I am hooked on a feeling a feeling that I can't shake loose. The people here have really been good to me and to say good-bye to them hurts me so, ibut I must. Firstly, l'd like to thank all my classmates for just beingrthere when I needed them and all the help they gave me. Thankyou: P.A'.,l' L.C., L.G., G.H., G.L., A.L., L.M., A.M., I.N.,. C.R., D.S., G.S., thanks to the faculty and very SPECIAL THANKS to my mom, dad, and sister for everything they've done for me. Good-bye S.V.S. and good-bye to a part of me. IOSEPH MYRON QDOCJ NICKELS tSchool impressionist, Newspaper Editor, Refectoriartl. My two years spent here at the seminary have been the most memorable, enjoyable, and rewarding years of my life. 'There are so many people l'd like to thank that really encouraged me and gavearme guidance throughout my junior and Senior-years. I am very grateful to the faculty and to all the students. Special appreaciation to my -fellow classmates tWater- buffalosj: PA, LC, LG, GH, GL, AL, LM, IM, AM, MM, CR, DS, GS, TZ, and Herman Egg QB. 1973 - D. 19731. Thanksto coach Mr. Skip Pomycata for a successful basketball season. There are places l'll remember allmy life, though some have changed, some forever, not for better, somevhavegone and some rerriain.,All these places had their moments . . . withifriends I stillcan recall, somedead and some areliving, in my'?life,I've, love them all . .. though'I3know I'll never lose affection for people and things that -went.before,' glknow I'll often stop and think about them, in my life I'll love you'Imore. - Beatles Sometimes you dream. Sometimes it seems there's-.nothing there at all. You just seem older than ,yesterday and' you're. .waiting for to- morrow to call. 'Mya future lieslbeyond the Yellow Brick 'Road. - Elton john. Pleh Bob! .A Q 1 A' ' ' , CARLOS RENE .RODRIGUEZ ' 'Dear Jesus, I want to thank you for having me come into this world, born and brought up by two wonderful parents. They make mewhat I am and help me to come closer to you. I don't think that I would have come here to St. Vincent's if they hadn't that -same love for me which exists between You and God the Father. For where there was faith, I found peace. Where there was peace, I found love. And where there was love, I found you. I also want to thank Fr. Braakhuis C.M., Fr. Crowley C.M. for guiding me in right paths. Thank you for my class- mates, my brothers, who helped me to grow, thereby giving mera deep- er understanding with each of them. I thank you' forlthaticoncernand 'respect they have always ,had for me, Oh Lord, transform me into Yourself. May my hands be the hands of jesus. May my tongue be the tongue of Jesus. Grant that every faculty of my body may serve only to glorify You. Above all, transform my soul and all its powers that my memory, my will, and my affection may be the memory, the will and the affection of jesus. I pray 'You to destroy in me all that is not of You. Grant that I may live in You and by You and for You, that I- may truly say with St. Paul, I live now, not l, but Christ lives in me. GEORGE STEVENS ' If I were to give advice to anyone striving for a vocation in life, I would say, Divide the time 'till you reach your vocation, into steps not more than a year apart. A student whose vocation lies at the end of his school years should make his school years steps and make his goal the next step. Goals should be something you can reach before you lose interest. !tA few of my original sayingsj. Life is like a bed bfi roses, if you rush through it, you will be wounded. often, taking up most of your time binding your wounds, but if you 'go through itslow- ly, step by step and move the branches out of the way one by one, you will be wounded much less often.fIn order to. be successful, you must know yourself thoroughly, your strengths, weaknesses, limits, and reactions in order that you may never lose control over your ac- tions. Not until you can completely control yourself can 'you 'beginjto control the life around you. I fOne can nevergo through three years of High School alone much less three years in .a schoolllike this with- out help from all sides. I would like to thank God' for Sl, BK, KM, LL, AM, IE, and RI who all had .to put forth ,personal--sacrifices in order for me to come to this school. I would like to ,thank God for Fr. Moore who brought me here and for Fr. Braakhuis and-Fr. .Cairns who helped to keep me here. I would also like torthank God for the Stevens family, the Houston family, the LaVenture familylandthe sixother families that took me into their homes over the pastdthree years. And most of all I would like to thank God for my beautiful parents ,who never tried to sway my decisions and who put forthi the biggest sacrifices of all. h A'.. The past four years have 'really been wonderful and'I can truly say that being with all the guys injthe' class is 'what has made them so great. Good luck to all of you! Without you I would have neverknown how really beautiful this place is, in- stead, however, I probably would have just given ,up and ,complained about the-few faults in this gem. I-would ,alsotlike to thank, the fresh- man class because I look at you and see ,that there still, is 'hope with your ,new ideas and questions of' thesystem. People so seldom say I love you, and then it's either too late or ,love goes. So when I say I love you, it doesn't mean that I'know I'll never go, only that I wish I didn't have too I would like to thank pri- marily the two most beautiful people in the world: my mom and dad without whose help and love I would never be the person I am today. Thanx faculty for all your patience, understanding, and help. A spec- ial thanx to Frits for his guidance and to the class of 74 for just being there when I needed them and even when I didn't. You're a great group of guys and words are inadequate to express my feelings for all of you, so just thanx for being yourselves. I have finallyreached that unseen fork where two roads diverged into a wood, and I - l' took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference, . fN.B.l We do not remember days, we remember moments . . . 'V LESLIE MARINO I lug, if 1 Character is something each one of us must builddfor himself, out of the laws of God and nature, the examples of others, and - most of all - out of the trials and errors of daily life. Character isthe total of thou- sands of small daily strivings to live up 'to the bestlthat 'in us. Char- acter is the final decision to reject whatever' is ,demeaning to oneself or to others and with confidence and honesty' tochoose thetright. JOHN MARKI-IAM ' There are times in the life of a seminarian when he becomes incensed at the whole world, especially with other seminarians. Such times of anguish test one's Christian Charity. My advice to those who will follow me is that they strive to overcome their moments of frustration. Never become depressed because beautiful people surround you, peo- ple who are willing to help you even though they may seem to be on your back. Many thanks to all my friendsg they have truly helped me. And my apologies to those I may have offended. ARTHUR MARTINEZ . Even though Ifve only experienced this high-school for about nine months, I could say that you are all' beautiful people. The priestly faC- ulty that we have 'here at,St.f Vincent's are doing their jobs so beauti- fully, especially the 5piritual.Director, Dean, and Rector, I can truly say -that 'the whole schoolfwill 'prosper to its greatest heights both spiritually andjacadeniically. I',wish' to .thank them all for the knowl- edge' andexperiences they gave me.'I wish toleave my diluted shine- all to' both Timothy I Murphy- and Francis Torrence.
