We elected ten girls with every class represented. When the students went through the pre- liminary eliminations, we still had one in the running. That contestant, Miss Jeanne Wilkinson eventually became queen. We were both happy for Jeanne and proud that the queen had come from St. Vincent's. 4 . Also presented was The Tinsel Twirl , a semi-formal dance A by the annual staff. The gym was transformed into a beautiful A V ballroom and Johnny Del-Fino never sounded better. be Our tradiitonal Christmas party was held on December l5, just prior to vacation 'time for the Freshmen. Since it is a 'T' tradition also for the Freshmen to provide entertainment, this year was no exception. The play Little Women was pre- 3 g sented and greatly enjoyed by everyone. The play was im- ff mediately followed by our party in which Dr. Murietta played Santa Claus and presented lovely gifts to the students. Dr. Murietta made a vivacious Santa and we really appreciated his participation. It was in the month of February that the Freshmen received G U j their caps. The best thing about capping of course, outside of Y the fact that you are no longer probies , is that the students X I QOH be QC1y, Celebrate and enjoy themselves, but, at the same 6 time, they don t have to say good-bye, to each other as they I must at graduation time, 7 5 4, Also in February the Sodality presented a dance called Hearts L-al ,S In Harmony , which was a big success, both financially and ' socially. Often a rare and unusual disease is encountered, which occurs only in children. Pediatrics is indeed a challenging, but also a rewarding experience! Nursing Public Health The work of the City Health Dept. and the close co-ordination with all types of agencies, for care of needy families is seen in our Public Health service at City Clinic. Both clinic observation and home visits with a Public Health nurse are included in the three-week service. Education of the public and preven- tion of maior health problems, is the aim of our Health Departments. Psychiatric Nursing Our three month affiliatic at Camarillo State H-ospitr is one ofthe most interestir and educational. Close co- ordination between ward duty and classes enables u to correlate the mental il nesses with actual patients. A great deal of insight i gained, which is beneficial in not only nursing the men- tally ill, but the physicall ill, as well. Our Picnic, and informal gather- ings as a class will now be memories. The time has come when we leave what has been a home to us for Three years, where we not only learned the arts and sci- ences of nursing but where we have made lasting friendships. ,nf ,., We are now approaching Grad- uation, a day long hoped for with great anticipation. As we face this day we wonder what the future holds and what plan of life God has destined for us. May the principles we have ac- quired serve us as a guide in all future endeavors.
