GRADUATES REACH First Row: L. Phillips, L. Young, P. Horton, B. Clark, S. Norman. Second Row: T. Hoke, A. Valedictorian Lisa Phillips ends the years Parsons, B. Westby, B. Duckett. C. Whiteside. spent together with a positive outlook to the future. On June 4, the class of 1982 entered the gym one last time as seniors for the culmination of their four years at St. Stephens High School. The commencement exercise began with the intro- duction of Reverend B. Dale Watts, a 1974 graduate of St. Stephens High School who then delivered the bac- calaureate to the graduates and their guests. Assis- tant Principal Ed Tollman then presented special awards and announced scholarship recipients. After Salutatorian Susan Norman spoke, a slide presenta- tion was shown to the graduates to remind them of all the memorable times they had experienced at SSHS. Finally the moment everyone had waited for ar- rived as Principal Charles J. Bost presented the di- plomas. The graduates experienced mixed feelings of joy and sorrow as they accepted their diplomas. Emo- tions continued to rise as Valedictorian Lisa Phillips addressed the graduates. As the Marching Indians played “Pomp and Cir- cumstance,” the class of 1982 changed their tassels from one side to the other and departed from the gym not as seniors, but as 1982 graduates of St. Stephens High School. Senior Class President Lynn Lytle, on behalf of the graduates, presents retiring Principal Charles J. Bost with a mortarboard and proclaims him to be an important part of the Class of 1982. 12 Graduation
