Male Supremacy Reigns at SSHS Here is a sample of what the judges had to choose from. Over thirty ravishing contestants vied November 14 for the title of “Mr. St. Stephens for 1974-75. Assisted by members of the St. Stephens Sub-Junior Club, which sponsored the pageant, each of the entrants was first presented in street wear, then in a dazzling array of feminine charms. Before a packed house, the contestants displayed their talents as they daintily tripped along the runway. To allow over- whelmed judges time to recover and make their decisions, the audience was entertained by a Drama Class presentation. In addition, five of the more “ill and illus- trious” Seniors amazed everyone with their jokes and antics on stage. Finally, from the Top Ten, three lucky “ladies” were chosen. The winner of the tough competi- tion was Jeff Bowman, followed by Jim Lightfoot and Sam Tallman, first and second runners-up, respectively. They received trophies and, along with all their graceful oppo- nents, a great deal of atten- tion. L. TO R.: Sam Tallman, 2nd Runner-up; Jeff Bowman, Mr. St. Stephens; Jim Lightfoot, 1st Runner-up. 23 Sherree seems amused by this exquisite display of femininity.

$17,000 Goal Reached During Magazine Campaign Once again students at St. Stephens sold magazines as the annual school fund-raising project. Over $17,800 was raised due to the effort put forth by the students. Ms. Karen Terry’s sophomore homeroom took first place in the traditional competition between homerooms, with a total of $881.49 raised. Their efforts were rewarded by a steak luncheon at Mull’s restaurant. Other top students were recognized also, with prizes being offered for the number of subscriptions sold. Money raised from the project was used to aid the athletic department, school clubs, and the promotion of the Jr.-Sr. prom. The Varsity cheerleaders set the mood for the Magazine Sales Kick-off with their enthusiastic promotional skit. 22 Even the band dressed for the occasion.
