Mr. Futrelle and Mrs. Ivey relived their teenage years by dancing up some memories. The judges work feverishly over their ballots before naming the new Miss St. Stephens. The top ten girls in the pageant awaited the final decision while standing on the platform with an old moss covered mansion as their scenic background. Julian Suggs was the Master of Ceremonies. Ten girls dressed to fit the theme, Days Gone By” provided a dance for entertainment.

Freshman Reigns as Miss SSHS 1974-75 Robin Lane, who was crowned the new Miss St. Stephens reigns in victorious beauty. This year’s beauty pageant was one of the school’s most fashionable features. The theme was Days Gone By,” which was a nostalgic look at the fifties. The pageant was a con- glomeration of the school's most lovely ladies. Seventy-seven contestants participated in the pageant, in which one, namely Robin Lane, was chosen as the winner. Mary Bolick and Robin Suttlemyer were chosen as runners-up to Miss St. Stephens. The winner was chosen on appearance alone. The 50’s were brought back through the background scenery, and the special effect produced by a couple, which performed the dance of the 50’s. Mr. Suggs, who was the master of ceremonies, induced laughter and entertained everyone watching the pageant with his musical ability. To conclude, this year's beauty pageant was a very entertaining, and exciting night. The pageant is sponsored by the P.T.A. and directed by Mrs. Violet Kale. Due to a tie, Mindy Martin and Kim Huffman shared the title of Miss Congeniality. Robin Suttlemyre, first runner-up; Robin Lane, Miss St. Stephens; and Mary Bolick, second runner-up. 14

Fabulous Fifties Live Again The Bobby Sox 50’s came alive in silver and blue on April 26 at the annual Junior-Senior Prom. The junior chorus sang a few ‘‘oldie goldies.” There were twenty-four sopho- more waiters and waitresses. The girls were clad in long skirts, white blouses, bobby sox and saddle oxfords. They sported bright red lips and cheeks. The waiters wore tight jeans and white T-shirts, they even had a cigarette pack rolled up one sleeve. Let’s not forget the coolest look for guys in the fifties — that greasy, slicked-back hair. For entertainment, the waiters and waitresses danced the jitterbug. The food that was provided consisted of petite cakes, pimento cheese and chicken salad sandwiches, potato chips, pickles and coke. Queen of the prom was Brenda Sweat, her attendants were Mary Bolick, Robin Suttlemyrc, and Christy McMahan. Elaborate decorations and a good band set the mood for dancing. Background music induced slow dancing . . . and fast dancing! 16
