Trailing at the half, 21-14, we exploded our fast break to start the last half and ended up 43-31. going strong. Team looked rusty. St. Peter's 38-La Grange 52 La Grange opened our season at home and gave us a first class shellaeking. Things didn't look promising, and we found ourselves with 29 games to play. St. Pe!er's 29--Kahoka 32 This dip down over the border was a tough one to lose. Leading 15-14 at the half, we lost this one in the last minute of play, Ed Bennett, our coach, resigned because of his work at the Post Office. St. Peter's 32-St. Mary's, Iowa City 53 This was our tirst collision with a Sueppel machine, and they really riddled us there in Iowa City. Half time score was 32-15, and they kept of the Games for the driving in the second half, leaving us bewildered to the tune of 559-232. This was our third loss in a row. St. Peter's 33--Argyle 19 Mr. Orville Dake took over the job of coach at St. Peter's, and the boys presented him with a victory on his maiden voyage. St. Peter'x 24--Central 29 Our arch enemies swooped down on us and beat us, but only after a snappy game, Leading at the half. 16-10, we couldn't hold on. Leo Tigue returned to school and played against Central. He gave promise of being a big. help. VVe lost this one trying to freeze the ball to protect a two point lead. Missing 8 out of 10 free throws didn't help. St. Pe!er's 35--St. J0e's 24 The boys went into this game feeling low. The future seemed dark, having lost 4 out of 6. The first half found the same old storyg we trailed 18-9. The coach told them to shoot the works and enjoy themselves, and a hotter club couldn't be found in the second half.
