SPECTATOR CLUB BllChhClSlCl' R Smlth Shaetfer THE SPECTATOR CLUB Thls year s Spectator Club was composed of nme members ofthe senlor class They were selected by last year s club because of thelr mterest 1n and understandmc of Engllsh and Hlstory Jack Mltzelfelt was elected presldent and Lynn WlCkW1fC the secretary treasurer Duung the course of the vear each member was requlred to dellver a speech before the club He was awarded a sllver dangler lf the club felt that hls talk was lnterestmg and an 1nd1cat1on of honest effort to cover the subject at hand The club also 1nv1ted guest speakers Dr Watson an astronomer the Reverend Mr Kates rector of Old St Paul s Church and Mr Gopal Algan, a natlve of Indla spoke to the club Each speaker presented somethmg dlfferent and partlcularly adapted to the lnterests of the group Mr Argans dlscusslon on Indlan mus1c was enllvened Wlth records from the varlous parts and types of Indlan llfe The members concurred that these oathermgs helped them to examlne modern and past llfe both by fact and creatlve thlnklng The club performed a real servrce by promotlng dlscusslon and glVlIlg IIS members an opportumty to further publlc speaklng by performmg before an uncrltrcal sympathetlc audlence Gulded by M1 LOUIS Clark the Spectator Club enjoyed an educatxonal and lnformatlve year 75 , .,., A- 4 ,k,,, tm . , ---'B '-,, 4 ff ' L - '1 5. . 1 SCIENCE CLUB Seated left to rrght Cates J Wrrght Sfandmg 'Vlr Ratclrffe Brrtton MacArthur .lackrns Beers R Campbell Fr her THE SCIENCE CLUB The Sarnt Paul s Scrence Club rs composed of those upper school students who possess an actrve rnterest rn the ever expandrng field of scrence Club meetrngs were held every Frrday rn the laboratory durrng the regular actrvrty perrod and were conducted on an rnformal but rnformatrve basrs Hrghlrghtrng the meetrngs were short speeches by the varrous members, after whrch questrons were rarsed by the other members rn promotrng an open forum drscussron Toprcs ranged from astronomy to the most unusual snakes of far off countrres The Scrence Club also presented qurte an rnterestrng assembly thrs year concernrng Magnetrc Devrces Varrous commrttees were delegated to gather technrcal rnformatron for the club The results and flndrngs were then presented to the school by several club speakers Short field trrps around the campus were also featured among the year s actrvrtres The objectrve of these trrps was to share the common secrets of nature Also rncluded rn the group s programs were several outsrde speakers who presented therr vrews on an array of drfferent subjects Many movres acqurred by the school were shown as part of the club s varred program Under the energetrc sponsorshrp of Mr James Ratclrffe, members were of the oprnron that thrs year s varred program was one of the most successful to be enjoyed by the Scrence Club rn some trme The student officers were Douglas Korschgen, presrdent, Kay Turner, vrce presrdent, and John Wolf, secretary 74 vm- I TS t .
