POSTER CLUB front rou left to right Lxnm hdwsard D Walker lx Darrell Dc-Ru y 'Nlr l'rcntli Burl row Hastlng R Walker J Darrell Lroelur THE P0 TER CLUB The Poster Club was founded in 1940 malun it one of the oldest clubs in the school E261 sinee its oigamzation the club s mam pro iam lids been the promotion of sehool spirit This requires considerable ingenuity, as evidenecd by some of the creations uhieh abound about the school posters which promote the aforementioned school spnit and the various athletic games Not all work goes tossaid game posteis houex ei but also foi utility signs and various othei examples of postei art after noon du11ng the HCIIVIIY pei 10d 'l OPICS diseussed were the coming games and the posters that were to be made foi them The elub supplies the paper, but the postels themselves w eie left entirely to the student s individual design On Mondays xauous members could be ohseixed puttinff up many elaborate posters for the week s coming games These posters were plated at stiategie xantage points aiound school so as to get the highest possible numbei of students out to SUPPOII the games The size and proficiency of the club has ineieased mth the yeais This yea1 s club piesndent was Joe Bladen, the vice president, Kent Darrell and seeietaiy llfiablllel Hoiace Hastings Othel active members were Bill Love Jimmy Edmunds Lauren SCll6lTCHi1ClxC1, Don Wright Jack Davies, Doug Walkei, and Blllltilll Cioekei These boys helped to draw posteis ix h1Cll generated a spirit of loyalty Wllhlll the student body By the end of the year the club was able to look back to see that it had encouraged a good many students to attend the games this in itself vias a S1UI'11lTCHl'lt accomplishment 12 l . ., , ' , .' PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB Kneelmg left lo rzght Kerr Forman Standing front row R Clarke Snyder Lang Hill T Lewis Back row Murrrll Delo Holloway Cunkel Stanbaugh Nlr Drce THE PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB One of the up and coming newer organizations about the campus, an outgrowth of the Camera Club that existed at Saint Pauls a few years back, rs the Photography Club Tlus activity rs set up to promote a better understanding of photography and rs open to all interested students This year, as rn the past the group sought to instruct members rn the fundamentals of photography and the use of the darkroom which rs located rn the basement of the asking and answering any questions the members might have Another segment of the meeting time was set aside for additional instruction by the presrdent or other oflicers of the club This year, however, the club was indeed fortunate rn obtaining the services of a br monthly speaker, Mr Rowe, the head photographer of the Baltzmore News Post Mr Rowe set up a program rn which the members were drvrded rnto three groups beginners, average, and advanced thus facilitating hrs instructional periods considerably During the meetings the advanced students also supervised the beginners rn the darkroom for on the spot rnslructron This summer a few of the members plan to remodel the darkroom, which rs rn need of repair and better equipment so that rt may become dust and light proof The oflicers of the club, who were ably supervised by Mr Drce, the faculty advisor, were Cordon Lyons, president Armstrong Forman, vrce president, William Kerr, secretary treasurer 71 Administration Building.
