C au clfcifozy On a brlght clear September mornrng 1n 1948 th1rtyf1ve shy bewlldered freshmen IH Room l3 at St Patrlck s Academy mtroduced themselves to each other as well as to the1r homeroom teacher Sfster M Clara Remember how trmxd and shaky we were before ln1t1at1on'P But after the ln1t1at1on our class ffrcers havmg been elected and we had been made full fledged members we settled down to the rout1ne of school l1fe for n1ne months mterrupted only by vacatlons at Thanksglvrng Chrlstmas and Easter Latm algebra and world hlstory were not too d1f'f1cult Remember when we studled 2x 3 7 In the sprmg we planned our Farewell party for the Semors Too soon our freshman year ended and we dlscarded that t1tle Green Freshles and became Sophls trcated Sophles The summer between our freshman and sophomore year flew by l1ke a rocket ln the fall of 49 thlrty three of us dlved 1nto our studles for the comlng year Except for the poss1b1l1ty of an exploslon 1n the lab 1n General Sclence class and frghtlng battles wrth Caesar ln Latm the year passed qulckly and smoothly After pass1ng our fxnal examtnatxons we were at last a part of the upperclassmen Agam the summer passed too qu1ckly The class of 52 began 1ts Junlor year w1th 28 members The b1g event of select1ng our class rmgs 1mpressed upon us that graduat1on was 1ust over the horlzon From the beglnnlng of the year our thoughts were dlrected to the task of arranglng a prom and banquet that would please the sentors Wxth the help and gu1dance of Slster M Alexlne both events were a success The gym for the banquet was decorated as an lr1sh represent a scene rn Ireland In our op1n1on ft was the best ever put on at St Patnck s Academy Fmally our senlor year to whlch we had looked forward so eagerly became a reahty Before we atta1ned thls coveted posltlon lt had seemed the sen1ors had pf1V1l9QSS but then we learned they had respons1b1l1t1es as well such as publ1sh1ng the Pralrle Echo school paper and annual But our turn to 1n1t1ate the new crop of Green Freshles was at hand and we were all busy thmkmg up torments for them In October Mons1gnor Lmks rllness spread a cloud of gloom over the enttre school On November 23rd we learned that early that mornlng Monsxgnor had gone to meet hrs Eternal Master Our Com mencement w1ll thus have a note of sadness IU 1t because our class will be the f1rstw1thout h1m Shortly after Mons1gnor s death the new desks whlch had been ordered for Room 8 arnved We semors were prrvlleged to be the f1rst to use them Then the honor of putttng on the class play was starlng us IH the face Under the careful SUDGTVISIOH of Srster M Patrrcla 1t proved to be a blg success We had learned we really d1d have actors rn our class The Farewell party g1ven by the Freshmen 1n our honor was much apprecxatecl A memorable affatr that we w1ll never forget 1S the lovely prom and banquet the Jumors gave 1n our behalf Now we are leavmg St Patnck s Academy we w1ll scatter the seeds of promlse assunng our beloved teachers that thelr endeavors have not been 1n va1n T1me w1ll end our story But no t1me mf we end well w1ll end our gloryl DRS C B DORWART AND I B ROCHE 15 Z' , l I I I I U - ' I I o ' ' , - .
