Record Breakers are: E. Tolentino, P. Gannucci. Not since the late 40's has St. Michael's Track Team enioyed the success it has experienced dur- ing the past season. The performances of the 2- Mile Team, in particular, were such that national attention was attracted to little St. MichaeI's High School. ln Pete Gannucci, a member ofthe Senior Class, Al Adams, Ernie Tolentino and Frank Jaworisak, lthe latter three Juniorsl, the St. MichaeI's High School Relay Team surpassed all previous records made by New Jersey School Relay Teams. Al Adams, on the strength of his 4 minute 28 seconds mile performance in the Newark Armory this past winter, stands a good chance of creating a world's interscholastic record for this distance before graduating from school. Ernie Tolentino is not far behind Al in the mat- ter of record-breaking and he too, before gradu- ation, should equal or surpass the national school- boy Half-Mile Run. Pete Gannucci, the gritty Captain, played no small part in the success of this team and his loss will be greatly felt. Other boys from whom much is expected next year are: Charlie O'Brien, Ken Anderson, Anthony Jaworisak, tall Juniorsl, Bill Garrett, Pete Car- diello, Phil Sorrentino, Mike Ruso, and Bill Bratton lpromising Sophomoresl. The fine group of Freshman runners, including Richie Harvey, Kenny Millard, Al Hughes, and Jimmy Fitzhenry, insures St. Michael's successful track seasons for the next three years. We would like to express our sincerest best wishes to Mr. Finn and Mr. Goughran, and our deep gratitude to them for their inspiring leader- ship and excellent coaching. Future track stars are: William Garrett, Peter Cardiello, Michael Russo, William Bratton, Anthony Tricoli. Boys who are expected to make a name in track are: Philip ofentino, Anthony Jaworski, C. O'Brien, Harold Anderson. 16114, k ' 7 A f - j 2 . . 'Ld A A .
