in n, ish. We sing of a maiden . . . . of whom Cod spoke to the serpent in the garden of Eden: HI shall put enmity between thee and the woman and thy seed and her seed, she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heelf, - . . . who was born of humble parents, Anne and Joachim, . . . who fell in love at an early age, and pledged her whole being, heart, mind, body, and soul, to Him, her Divine Love. ' . . . who is the glorious ideal of every man, woman, and child. We sing of a maiden . . . . who, with deep humility, replied to Gabriel: Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to thy word. . . . who brought forth the Son of God, at midnight in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. . . . who graciously fulfilled the lowly duties of grinding meal and carrying water. . . . whose heart was pierced with a sword when her Son, at twelve, was lost in Jerusalem. We sing of a maiden . . . . who watched Him go away but did not ask to follow Himg . . . who looked deep into the eyes of her Divine Son as He journeyed on the long road to Cal- vary, . . . who stood, heartbroken but silent, at the foot of the Cross, . . . who received the lacerated Body of her Son to soothe and caress Him for the last time. We sing of a maiden . . . , whom Saint John saw in a vision, a woman that wore the sun for her mantle, with the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars about her head. . . . who is hailed by poet and peasant, painter and prince. . . . through whom all the graces of redemption flow to the world. . . . who will plead for us, her children, at the hour of our death. We sing of a maiden . E61 W
