Miracles The religion department was improved vastly over the same department from years gone by. This was due mostly to the hard working and dedicated staff which served in that department. lt was all led by Sister Mary Lucille, S.N.D. and Fr. Dennis L. Gray, department co-chairmen. Sister Lucille holds a Master of Arts degree in Theology from St. John's University, Collegeviile and Fr. Gray holds a M. Div. from Mt. St. Mary's. Sister taught the challenge and Christian service courses. Her service class was responsible for visiting rest homes around the area: an act that was appre- ciated by many. Fr. Gray taught the morality and the commandments classes. He also helped to organize or did organize the retreats which each class took throughout the year. The two department chairmen were also responsible for raising money to keep the department in operation. Helping these two people along the way was Rev. Charles Dendinger and Rev. Gregory Gerrick. In addition to these there were several other people who taught in 1 this department but are sel- dom recognized, they were: Sr. Berneta, Sr. Danielle and -e Mr. Janelle. The most unforgettable hap- pening in the religion depart- ment was the construction of a chapel within the school building. By utilizing an empty classroom, much hard work, and dedication the chapel was opened to the students at mid-year. S.N.D. ' ' Rev. Charles J. Guidance The guidance department saw Mr. James Funk as its chairman with a Masters degree in Education from B.G.S.U. He was assisted this year by Mrs. Susan Cooley, who was hired through the auxiliary services program. They were responsible for giving the tests: GATB-freshmen, OVIS- sophomores, PSAT-juniors, ACT and SAT-juniors and seniors. They were also responsible for scheduling and EHOVE and for giving information to students about college or jobs or whatever . . . They were even available just to talk to, if you had a problem. The school was also visited by speakers from various colleges. r. Funk discovers another student who will never ake lt through college. Mr. James C.
