The Story In his first year as head baseball coach at St. Mary's Mr. Ernie Cecaci gave evidence that the baseball future for St. Mary's is bright. Handicapped byaprolonged basketball season that kept many ofhis key players away from practice, the team, nevertheless, opened the regular season in good shape and although they lost the first two games, both were well played and contested until the last out. Since the year- book had to go to press before mid-season, little can be said about the season record. Players who gave promise of distin- guishing themselves were, Richie Mason, a newcomer at catching, Frank McDermott, consistent hitter, J i m De Costa, strong pitcher, and George Sabatte, infield main- stay.
