Science Club 3, Sewing Club , , . ross , , , e Graduates Sing SMA Praises Numerous pleasant memories crossed the minds of the Blue Ties of '60 upon their graua- tion day in June. lt was four years since they entered St. Mary's, only to astound the school by capturing, as freshmen, first place in the Magazine Drive. Producing the Sophomore Show and taking over the Summer House highlighted the sophomore year. Blue Tie generosity was shown in the junior year by the top honors in the Magazine Drive and the successful Junior Day. Although break- ing tradition, Blue Ties were very thrilled to receive their senior rings at the close of the junior year. Frosh initiation was the first activity on the fall agenda, winning the Magazine Drive for the third time was next. The traditional senior caroling at the convent climaxed l959. Gradua- tion portrait sittings in January awakened the Blue Ties to the nearness of commencement. Semester exams closed with their last Belles and Beaux Ball. May saw the Blue Ties gayly don their sum- mer uniforms, and June 3 their formals for the Senior Prom. On Tie Day, each girl was called in the last Roll Call to return her Blue Tie, sym- bolizing Marylikeness, to the Virgin Mother. ln all the glory and splendor of commence- ment, many a tear was shed at the thought of parting from loyal classmates-possibly never to meet again until eternity with God.
