Millinocket is the gateway
to Mount Katahdin and Baxter Park.
The history of the Town
would be incomplete without mention
of these two picturesque spots.

Mount Katahdin is the monarch
of Maine mountains.
It lifts one to a vision
of six-hundred-mile circle
of primitive aspect
looking down from a mile-in-air

OUR MAGIC CITY
Millinocket, known as the Magic City, has been in
the past and is today, a striking example of close
cooperation between Labor and Capital. This factor
alone well explains the magical way in which our city
has sprung up from a dense forest into a flourishing
community in such a short period of time.
Together, the Great Northern Paper Company and
the Town have established a proud record of cooper-
ation and achievements over the past fifty-five years.
The Mill has contributed a great deal to the community
In fact, the G.N.P.C. is the heart of the industrial life
of the towng from the income of its business has come
the livelihood of the majority of the people.
But, money and machinery alone do not produce
paperg the brain and brawn of the working man also
played an important part in making ours, one of the
leading industrial communities of the State of Maine.
This fine spirit of cooperation permeates the town
and functions not only when there is common cause -
for helping in emergency cases, but in the ordinary
everyday business of the community as well.
