Currently in his fifteenth year at St. Mark's and his tenth as Headmaster, Iohn T. XVhatley spent the first half of the 1979-80 school year on sabbatical. In the fall, he traveled extensively in Europe and the United States, visiting many types of educational institutions. Mr. Whatley teaches AP European History and holds an A.B. and an M.Ed from Harvard University. I V f 1. L ,A Michael Shepperd has been at St. Mark's for five years as Head of the Upper School. This year he took on the responsibility of Headmaster during Mr. Whatley's sabbatical. Mr. Shepperd also teaches Psychology and Litera- ture, and 12th Grade English and Civics. He received his B.A. from Yale and is working on his M.L.A. at SMU. 24

Robert Kohler Ctopl, Class of '63, is Head of the Mid- dle School and also teaches Spanish. At St. Mark's for nine years, he currently coaches Middle School Cross Country and Soccer. Mr. Kohler received his B.A. from Austin College and his M.A. from S.M.U. Larz Anderson Qabovej, Head of the Lower School, also teaches in the second grade. At St. Mark's for nine years, Mr. Anderson earned his A.B. at Princeton Uni- versity and his M.S. at the University of Pennsylvania. juan Egiies Cleft? a member of the St. Mark,s community for the past nine years is completing his first year as Dean of Students. He is also Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and Varsity Soccer Coach. Mr. Egiies received his B.A. from St. Mary,s andhis M.B.A. from the University of Dal- las.
