DEPARTMENT ENGLISH Leonard A. Blanchard Cleftb has completed his first year as a member of the St. Mark's faculty. Mr. Blanchard attended Washington and Lee University, and earned his MA, from Emory University. He is working on his PhD. Mr. Blanchard teaches English, and is the assistant cross-country coach. He is also a sponsor of the Rellflarker. Andrew Maller Ctop rightj has been at St. Marlds since 1969. ln 1972 he became the sponsor of the ReMarker. Mr. Mailer is the head varsity cross-coun- try coach and the distance track coach. Mr. Mailer attended the University of Wisconsin and received his MA. from Middlebury College. Bud Fairlamb Cbottom rightb, a new faculty mem- ber, teaches English, Mr, Fairlamb is the freshman soccer coach. He earned his BA. from Princeton University and has studied at the University of Penn- sylvania.

John J. COr1i'iOIIy Qupper lettj, vvho has com- pleted his twenty-sixth year as a member of the tac- ulty, came to St. Mark's in 1949. Currently, he is the Head of the Upper School, Senior Master, and a member of the Curriculum Committee, as well as the Discipline, Tutorial, and Admissions Committees. Mr. Connolly has taught Latin in the past and is currently a member of the English Department. He holds A.B. and M.A. degrees, and has attended Boston Col- lege, Boston University, Tufts University, and the Universite de Besancon. Herb Meyer Cupper rightj came to St. Mark's in 1970 as an English teacher and has been Dean of Students since 1972. Mr. Meyer is the head coach of the varsity soccer team and is sponsor of the Stu- dent Council and the Lion and Sword Society. He earned a B.A. at Emory University and his M.A. at Middlebury College in 1971. He is a member of the English Department. Michael Teitelman qle-ftp, the Head of the Middle School, has been at St. Mark's since 1969. He holds a B.A. from Albright College and an M.A. from Brown University. Mr. Teitelman is a teacher in the Social Studies Department and also senfes as the Director of Admissions.

He is an assistant foot- ball coach and the head varsity track coach. Mr. North earned his BA. from Vanderbilt University. Bobbi Bivera Qupper rightj came to the St. Mark's English Department in 1973, and teaches classes in reading skills. She has earned B.A. and MA. degrees from Florida State University and Syracuse KT'- -JCR ' - :J -I N ,. V K I University. Catherine Lutken Cbottomy came to St. Mark's in the Spring of 1973 as the Middle School secretary and joined the faculty in the fall. She teaches Middle School English and is a sponsor ofthe Middle School Outing Club. She is also sponsor of the Remarks-a-lot. Mrs. Lutken attended Davidson Col- lege, St. Anne's College, Oxford University, and earned her BA. from Mary Baldwin College. 1 v Y fs ff l
