sprrrng mascots we took our first Senror Room exams But these were followed by the thrrlls of graduatron and best of all Vacatron' Back we flocked sophomore year yoyously enthu srastrc over vacation and one step nearer to the ley el of upper classmen At least we could now dance at the Glee Club concerts and some of us had eyen attarned the ascendancy of lryrng on the thrrd floor We felt lrke old hands now as we welcomed the new grrls Class actryrtres contrnued zestfully wrth the electron of Lulu Sheldon charrman and Ann Krrsch baum treasurer Then on the evenrng of December srxth were heard loud crres from the gym Swrng your partner and promenade round' Wfrth Mr Coe s ard rn securrng decoratrons we gave our frrst class party a real barn dance amrd hay saddles and enough other remrnders to make any farmer home srck Then we were startled rnto the realrty of war on December 7th and we realrzed that our country could no longer remarn rsolated when the rest of the world was rn the throes of strrfe After vacatron we returned to elect joe Punzelt our representatrve on the Stu Gee Board No we weren t as rascally as may have seemed by certarn pranks The year ter mrnated wrth no mrsfortunes except for Lrndy s and Eva s appendectomres and Mary Lou s departure for Calrfornra The latter resulted rn a party at the hos prtable Krrschbaums Undrsmayed by half pats of butter and three parrs of shoes a year we returned as upper classmen promptly electrng Ada and Margy as class offrcers Wrth these competent leaders although sewrng for the Red Cross took up some of our trme on Satur days we started on our class party a college week end One skrt wrth oe and Ann gave the audrence a glrmpse of an 1890 brcycle rrde under the srlvery moon Another scene moyrng up to 1915 prctured gay socralrtes drscussrng such rnnovatrons at the auto mobrle and lrp rouge' Other skrts wrth more modern atmosphere com eyed us to the present Also rn No vember a few of us were gryen the prrvrlege of helprng drstrrbute Thanksgryrng baskets through St ohns parrsh Then suddenly we found ourselves practrsrng Chrrstmas carols rn antrcrpatron of the mornrng after the pageant On the occasron rn sprte of our prevrous worrres about drscords the frosty arr of srx o clock seemed to combrne favorably wrth our sleepy vorces and vacatron started wrth gusto How amazed we were to find that we were not to come back untrl February frrst' We hardly knew what to do wrth our unexpected freedom the result of the dearth of fuel Although the burldrng may have been slrghtly chrlly and although we sometrmes wore skr jackets to class we w ere delrghted to get back after three very laggrng weeks w hen no one else w as home Our attentron was soon taken up wrth the hazardous experrences of wrrtrng a song much of the job done rn the lrnen closet to the tune whrch had been chosen rn Mrss Gays apartment durrng Chrrstmas vacatron After the w rrtrng had been completed rt w as our erght srngers w ho met secretly and cleverly Y ,f ,W w 1 . . l l - .1 -I - H 1 7 V ' 1 'f ' 1 1 - a . . . , V . .
