ibut Anglu-Saxon I augur English is the only course, with the excep- tion of Theology, that is required all four years at St. Laurence. With the difference in the individual tracks, each teacher is left pret- ty much to his own discretion on what he will teach, but it follows a general pattern. Freshman English was usually heavy on grammar, and offered a basic introduction to literature. While Sophomore English goes off heavily on grammar the Honors program, grammar is given equal emphasis on other levels. Junior English is survey of American Literature, however on levels other than the Honors level, some grammar is taught. Senior English is a survey of Literature written in the English Language with emphasis on that of Great Britain. Q' Hike learn About amber St. Laurence's Math Department again offered a wide variety of interesting courses. From freshman Algebra I to the complex Calculus II, every student was of- fered an opportunity to challenge himself to his fullest extent. Although Algebra I and Geometry are required for freshman and sophomore students respectively, Algebra II and Trigonometry and Math Upper Right: Mr. Fowler explains a problem on the board. Far Right: Mr. Pivarunus's class gets back an exam. Middle: Mr. Fowler ponders over a tough ques- tion. Far Left: Mr. Kruska demonstrates a geometry problem. Bottom: Mr. Pivarunus collects a homework assignment. 134 f Math Analysis are offered as electives to further brighten and expand the student's interest in mathematics. Other electives included Math Topics and Calculus I which is a prerequisite to Calculus II. Overall, the knowledge of parabolas and complex numbers to hyberboles, elipses and calculus applications were taught successfully. 'X' hw M.
