On September 30, 1968 death claimed Brooklyn ' s beloved Archbishop, Bryan J. McEntegart. This beloved churchman headed the nation ' s most populous diocese, comprising Brooklyn and Queens, for eleven years. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Joseph ' s College for Women, and in order to commemorate his service and devotion to our college, we the Senior Class of nineteen hundred and sixty-nine, wish to dedicate our yearbook to this self-sacrificing Apostle of Christ. As an exemplar of the heights of Christian living, he can inspire us by his philosophy of dedication and commitment, which is best ex- pressed in the words of Alfred Lord Tennyson in his poem Ulysses. The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends, ' Tis not too late to seek a newer world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths Of all the western stars, until I die. . . . that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts. Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
