In the background and dominating the whole scene is the throne, draped with N In ff velvet. It 1S on a dais with several wide steps lead.ing up to it. On either side of the throne are X fl l long mullioned windows. ' f TIME: A long time ago. I SCENE I I 4. 6,7 tWhen the play opens, the Princess is seated on the throne, the Lord High Chancellor and Q 9 ' I the Tutor seated at her right and left respectively. The Princess looks like a conventional fairy- - X .. tale princess, but alas! she does not act the part. Just now she is lounging on her throne, and L scowling at the toe of her small slipper. The Lord High Chancellor and the Tutor sit stilliy erect W! Tfrgs in their highbacked chairs, and eye the Princess severely from time to time. They wear curly .X , wigs and shoes with largefsquare buckles. The Chancellor wears an ermine-bordered robe: the Q I I Tutior an academic gown. They are both small stout men, are so much alike that they look like a pair of book-ends.D h I Q . 0 ff 9 , . e Q . v THE LORD HIGH V But-your Royal Highness-it's just one of those things that arenlt done in the 1' CHANCELLOR: ! best of royal circles! .
