And Vllllbieint .mth er' inte When one day you see .a small crowd before a Bulletin Board and then a larger crowd and everyone is standing on Tiptoe and trying to see over the Shoulder of someone in front and maybe saying uOh, dear! in a kind of cross way because the Shoulder is so high and it's hard to keep standing on your Tiptoe for more than a few minutes at a time, you may be sure something is going to happen. Something Nice. Or something not so Nice. And this day we're talking about it was something very Nice for there wasnit a word about uSinging Class at 4:1577 or 4'Who said the Young Ladies could walk on the Avenue?', but just a Picture all pink and green and yellow and filled with fans and bridges and trees and ladies with funny eyes drinking their Tea and way down at the bottom some printing that said NlVlission Unitf' . So then, of course, everyone knew there was going to be a party and that they were invited. Everyone that is except us-. We had known about it all along, you know, because we were giving the Party and had put the Picture there ourselves. And that's why fbecause we were giving itj we had to be at the Party before anyone else. But after awhile everyone started coming. First a few came and then some more and pretty soon everyone' was there saying HHOW-do-you-do? and wfhauk you and other polite things, instead of just talking you know. And then when it was time for Tea, because this was a Japanese Garden Party, everyone sat on the floor on pillows instead of chairs like we're supposed to or on tables like we're not supposed to but sometimes do when we just go to the Social Hall to dance and there isn't any party at all. And then when everyone had had Tea and little Cakes, and said Thank you again, and danced, and smiled and nodded some more, it was time to go. And that. we think, was the best part of all, not that we were glad it was over but because . , , . . its so nice to have everyone telling us 'cGoodn1ght', and 'Tye had such a lovely .' 77 - , , . u . . time as if we were really the Ladies in the Picture, or other Ladies like them. and not just Sophomores in Kimonos Kas we reall - 1 k very. very Happy. 1 Y WSIS, 50l1 Howl-very tired but A512522 lvl ii tl ' ji-.VQQJZ 'f xl 0 ljftbja if? ll-'Q-sz-fs-J:,,..........,,-.M-N-.MN ,.. -'Q'j7f',YKl1 F'iffii'-31T1?:1!':1'it!?:,?::,1-7: Aff--Lgwvihli-E-q'fI:l'l-Ilvlledlsxnlilim ..-. ...vm F .1 Q , .-,ns ,-..,: f ,-, . fj A t i . . - - :. -N ' ., .. ...V ..,,, ..,,. , jifj fi,-til Lfgifw-.5 'QJ i 'f'lllf-l Mi3 .w? .,'.M'fKjgfla. zwljj ji fl t' 9' 'LF' ll 4, is u.
