Oh! what a wealth of sacred memories the Alumnae will take home 'f J ri with them, gifted the pen which would attempt to chronicle between the lines. ,J The 4'lVlagic Wand of Memoryi' has carried us back to the. Junes of yester-year. 7 ga? A N o doubt the scene of our old time Distribution would be quaint and uiligue to the Seniors of Saint Josephis College, Silver Jubilee Year 1928, but the Sweet Girl ,fsiigf Graduatef' gowned in Hlmy white with her armfuluof roses, was Just as darnty then as she is today and the very mention of Distribution Day at Saint J Elzseph sg inwthe Sixties and the seventies will forcibly carry back the memory of the old girls to 42 . the days that are no more-to the dayshof Father Burlando the revered, and Mother Euphemia the beloved-the days before radios, movies, automobiles or airplanes- yes, worse than that, before even telephones were ever hearc. of, but don t.p1ty us, Q A dear Seniors of 1928. We had our compensations which you will never enjoy. Do .5 ' M not think, my dear, young future Alumnae,'that we l1ved 1n the dark ages-far, far 9' if from it. They were the ages of Faith and Love, the age of Obedience, of Devotion Q9 and Loyalty, which has clung to us for half a century. of A Our incomparable Directress, Sister Raphael, with that charm and grace of the Sunny South, possessed the rare combination of great dignity with perfect humility. 'Stl To be a graduate of Sister Raphaelis time has a distinction all its own. Her name 1 ' J is still an inspiration and will always remain a cherished household word in our 'J' ' 4 l 1 homes: . g . . ,1 J Sister Lucia will stand out preeminent, as the teacher par excellent, her beautiful gi life will always remain a memory fresh and fragrant in the hearts of all who knew , if at her. Her spirit of Faith was sublime. g g How we admired our dear, fascinating Sister Madeleine O,Brien, so highly gifted f2f'Q5 herself, and so generous in imparting such wonderful knowledge out of her great l abundance. , . Our dear little Sister Caroline was so earnest, so sympathetic and so affectionately 3 ' ' devoted to the children committed to her care, that, after a lapse of fifty years, that S, loyalty and love for their teacher has never died. - Wfiil Next on my list come my precious friends, Sister Juliana Chatard and Sister S lui Benedicta Burns. To know these two chosen souls was to love them with a love that H shall last throughout time and eternity. uwle shall not look upon their like again. ' Q All of these beloved Sisters completed their fifty golden years in the service of God. t il Sister Ann Scholastica with her great, big generous heart was our Angel of lVlercy. She taught us obedience. Now we appreciate her goodness and kindness ,l A ill while then we sorely tried her patience. J' ' ' Sister JOSBPMUC BTOWH, l3Cl0Yf?d by hundreds of girls, will ever remain the 'Q fi - Guardian Angel of the Infirmary, Our Mother. ' I would love to see a memorial J 5, erected to her memory. yi ig? , 5'-'N 'F ' . No sketch of the Sisters of Charity would be complete without special mention of dear Mother Margaret who will be forever enshrined in our hearts. W'omen valiant and strong-Pillars of granite! Their personality has left its mark on Saint Joseph's. One by one they have carried to the throne, of God their 4'Garnered Sheavesn of deeds well done and are now resting side by side with our Saintly Mother Seton. These were our ideals of noble womanhood. 'They need no eulogy but the Q5 'diff E? gl In ff iii H.
