The youth, particularly, were charmed by his enthusiasm and vitality. His innate goodness and self-sacrifice was a quiet inspiration to all Americans. and eamed the admiration of the world. To the seniors, the loss of President Kennedy was especially poignant. His thoughts and ideals permeated all our high school life, and gave us a noble example for the future. As sh-e was the first superior of the Academy in Frontenac, the responsibility of giving the school a strong, new beginning rested on her. She took the responsibility fully and supervised much of the physical as well as the academic formation of the school. Although the under- classmen did not hav-e the privilege of knowing her, they share in the benefits that she has left them. Her service to the school will not be forgotten. The Academy pays tribute to a great woman. -Madonna Gauding HCQ QWIICS Rita Foley Marianne Long Gloria Franck Mary Fogarty Meriyn Boggianno Stephanie Kestranek Kathy Connelly Sue Ross Marge Fischer Pat Casserly N it me . It is governed by certain laws and principles accumulated since the beginning of time. And yet it is still in the process oi theory. Although complete coverage of th-e basic principles of mathemat- ics is offered at The Academy, the main emphasis is placed on ex- ploring its latest theories. Thus the S. I. All of the scientific facts in the textbooks are simply discoveries born of experiment. We live in an age of constant discovery. Scientists are experimenting unceasingly to find newer and better things for living, drawing for their information on the data accumulated in the past. Through the science department at the Academy, a girl acquires a firm background of scientific past and is encouraged to use this knowledge to contribute to the scientific future. The essential element which SIA strives to cultivate is curiosity. It is the spark which sets off the flame of experimentation leading to the glow of discovery. -Beth Murphy .I+ ---- d-,Y.,. --,. e,,-..?7v,,-.,,..,-,,,,, W If 1 m 1 1 Commercial Department Connie Bresnahan A ---v - 53 6:5 Kax yy- sz rw X r f e X ge ig .. 1- N ea r wif' e fy 3 , ..e, Q Zz wk , x yr' Q '45 Q X rf V 'X V X, eff , , 5 aff A S W ef ' x 56 V me Mary Motherway Kathryn Stacy Francine Bilyeu -Vi --- W., ..,.. To present a good show, instruct- ed director Miss Dwyer, you must all take on the character of 'Quality Street'. Through six weeks of Miss Dwyer's perseverance, and the sen- iors' cooperation, this character was achieved. A dignified, short-stepped pace was detected in a few of our ladies of Quality Street at school. And yes, that was a British a you heard in the halls. A character had to be achieved backstage, too -- cooperation, the virtue that everyone realized was the prime requisite for a real show. That endless search for 'fans, hand- kerchiefs, and blue and white fix- tures, was one we will not soon forget.
