Jackson, Gray Best A ll-Around A'ihla'ias Seniors Mike Gray and Lo- retta Jackson were given a first-time award for best all-around athletes at the spring sports awards ban- quet. Gray participated in football, basketball and baseball this year and Jackson was active in vol- leyball, basketball and soft- ball. Gray was also selected as the Most Valuable Player for baseball and was select- ed to the All-Conference Hrst team. Jackson was chosen as the Most Valu- able Player for both girls basketball and softball. She was selected to the first team in the All-Con- ference selections for both sports. Golf coach, Daniel Madrid, was chosen the Northeast Golf Coach of the Year. Tom Collins and George Gray, both seniors, were selected as Most Valuable Golfers and Craig Lane re- ceived the Most Improved Golfer award. ln girls track, Sarah Ana ya was chosen the Most Valu- able Player for the track events. Heather Raymond was selected as the Most Valuable Player for Held events and Deltina Rome- ro was chosen as the Most Improved Player. ln boys track, Justin Platt received the award for Most Valuable Player in track. Pat Goodman was the Most Valuable Player for field events. Jason De- Luisa received the Most Improved Player award. ln softball, Monica Naegle and Melissa Tafoya re- ceived the Most Improved Player awards. Maura Hannah received the Rookie of the Year award. Missy Garcia was given an honorable mention and Dana Bischof was named to the second team in the All-Conference selections. ln boys basketball, Mark Sherwood, who was named to the All-Confer- ence second team, was named the Outstanding Rebounder. Cord Udall re- ceived the award for Out- standing Defense. John Postert was chosen for Outstanding Offense and Ryan Mangum, who was named to the All-Confer- ence first team, was named the Most Valuable Player. Mangum, Sher- wood and Posterrt will all participate in the Arizona All-Stars game. Mangum was also selected as an All- Star National Academic All-American. ln baseball, Jesse Chavar- ria was named to the All- Conference Hrst team and given the award for Best Bat. Cord Udall, named to the All-Conference second team, was chosen as the Best Defensive Player. Ryan Ashton was given honorable mention for the All-Conference selection. ln girls basketball, Misty Mineer was named the Most Improved Player. Sarah Anaya was named for the All-Conference sec- ond team and was chosen as the Best Defensive Play- er. Colette Waite was giv- en honorable mention in the All-Conference selec- tions. Anaya will also par- ticipate in the North and South All-Star game. ln wrestling, Kevin Crosby was named the Most Valu- able Wrestler, also called the Classic Wrestler. Vince Chlarson and Kiley Crosby were given the Scrap Iron awards and Steve Baca was given the Take Down award. Receiving letters for the Rodeo Club were Cody Plant, Destri Lockhart and LaDelle Reedy. Plant and Lockhart will both take part in the State High School hnals this summer.
