Oh, let me be attune with seasons and with the changing time of things: I want to hold you close when your time calls for that, to see you from afar when solitude is what you need, to comfort you in troubled moments, to shield you from a cloud of storm and shelter you when the earth trembles and see you safely home through lonely water., There is a season and a time for lovers like ourselves, as days of gentle summer rain must follow warmth and sunshine, as autumn leaves must fall as well, our meeting and our parting must have its time and season. - Vlalter Henry Nelson Dedzcatzon Some men spend a lifetime searching for their destrmes but you have achieved all that a person could dream possible person of conviction and honesty and you are a man who has accepted a challenge which few men can meet and conquer' To you Bishop Ottenweller we wish to dedicate the 1974 CREST as a token of our admiration and as a small thank you for all you ve done for us and for our community We admire you, a man with love in your heart and dedication in your soul. These people put in many long, hard hours of work, hours that are appreciated by the people of our parish. The students of St. ,Iohn's would like to thank these people for their dedication. The 1975-74 Delphos St. john School Board consisted of: fsrandingj Thomas Gordon, Richard Moorman, Ralph Hemker and Cletus Vonderwellg Csearedj james Bertling, George E, Adams, Mrs, Caroline Gallemier, Sr. M. But there are many aspects of Mr. Adams' job we don't realize: the responsibilities, the pressures, the sorrows, the disappointments. His job is so complex that Mr. Adams is sometimes a bit mysterious - doing things, acting in certain Ways, and il - changing in mood for reasons which aren't apparent to us. ff 0 4 if 456' ,i i 1 ,tl . -21 gl .J l .1 ii ' 'I :P I lfnig it if Y , L, ... -.- H- ,4.... .,,... --...... ,,-.......A... The people involved in the play this year took on a great challenge by performing West Side Story. After the decision was made on the play, the pit band began practicing almost immediately. Dancing steps had to be mastered, for they played an important part in the play. There were other changes from tradition also as the play was enacted without a formal stage. As a result, our technicians had to experiment with the lighting and sound systems. Rehearsing the play was sometimes very difficult because acting, singing, and dancing had to be coordinated together to bring out the special meaning of the play. All the emotions were encountered in performing West Side Story as the actors portrayed their characters through the action of the story. The entire experience was valuable to the Seniors for introducing them to the art of theater. Award. tions. 146 owns Are Finally Earned. Graduation is an important day in everyone's lives. Seniors begin to count the days until the final one way back in the middle of winter. May 26l' became a magical incantation, sometimes throwing a few excitable Seniors into fits of frenzy. Many people looked forward to that day, but there were a few feelings of sorrow also. St. johnls became almost a second home to some Seniors. We would miss some of the crazy things that went on in those halls and classrooms. However, no one can remain a school age Hteenybopperi' forever and so graduation finally became a reality. In the meantime, we shared nurnerable experiences together such as the class play, Senior trip, and Senior outing. In the awards assembly, quite a few people received honors and scholarships, giving them recognition for their work at St. ,Iohn's. As the day grew near, we also began to understand what previous Senior classes had experienced as graduation approached and a new life began. Noonan was the top student in the class and one of za i.. other commencement speakers were Steve Bergfeld Tom Hoersten. . . and Karen -Iettinghoff. Everyone connected with this production of the CREST combined these qualities which made the 1974 CREST a great success. To Mr. Steve White, out Taylor representative, thank you for all the times you helped us with our book. To the student photographers, Tim and Kim, Mr. Charles Nulty, and especially Mr. David Lundgren of Kaufman Studio, a big thank you for all the beautiful pictures that were taken and for all your hard work. To Nancy and jerry, taking care of the money is always a big responsibility. As this yearls business managers, you really did an excellent job. Thanks doesn't seem to be enough to the staff members for all the work they did to help produce this volume of the CREST. It was hard work right to the end, but it was fun. The biggest thank you goes to our advisor, Mr. Randy Bohnlein. We'll never know how he puts up with it, but he never gives up. I-Ie was always there to give us a hand whenever we needed it. It was a lot of fun and we'll never forget all the good times that we had. As we look back on this year, welll see that it is A Time to Remember What Once Was Ours. - Tina Brandehoff, Editor ,-A, . 1 1- . ,,, V 'g 'Cv fr. L1 Q It 110' - Sm.
