' HAM ' The 1979-1980 Bosco Brave newspaper staff was involved in a busy and prosperous year, that provided experience and chrac- ter for all involved. This year's Brave broke away from the format set by the past Bosco newspapers. The Brave attempted to strike a balance in its articles between school-reIa- ted news and the happenings of broader concern. Co-editors Dennis Bendeck and Derek 0'Gorman led the way with their editorials focusing on the major concerns of the school. News editor Bob Da Silva was success- fully able to cover both the seri- ous and lighter sides of the news. His review column was one of the most anticipated features. Feature editors Mylin Watkins and Richard Ascarate tried to provide the news- paper with reports of current social events that affect the school, com- munity, and the world. The sports editors Tom Templeman and Ken Schoeman strived to present an inside look at the world of Bosco sports. This whole group was led by the enthusistic and experienced advisor Mr. James Cross. This has been the sixth year that Mr. Cross has been working with The Bosco Brave, and under his leadership and guidance the paper has progressed each year. 1. Sb? 0'cwQnow The Ski Club was one of the new clubs on campus this year. lt got a good start with' an after Christmas trip to northern Utah. The club skied at both Snowbird and Alta ski resorts. Despite the lack of snow, everyone had a good time. Some skiers would not be denied their right to ski and upon return were asked by ski repair shops how it was skiing in a parking lot. Mr. Tim Ellis planned the trip along with president Mike Dibb. This was all the club did this year, but it is young and needs time to develop. Maybe next year they'll even find some snow. 1. Until now. lt took an ambitious group of sophomores and the expertise of advisor Mr. Gaytan to get the ball rolling', but once things got started, they knew they could produce a successful magazine. With the hard work and dedication of sophomores Richard Wolitski, Tony Ramirez, Jim Carter, Tim Tormey, Joe Cimo, and Xerxez Calilung Cnot to mention ffwysc M W7 bf J, M all the encouragement of Mr. Gay- tan, with the additional help of Jun- ior, Leo Barajas! The Muse , Bos- co's first literary magazine was born. The magazines purpose was to provide the students with a creative outlet-a place to express creativity in any artistic form, be it in writings, photos, or drawings. lt achieved not only that goal, but with it a more important one - .everyone who was involved gained valuable experi- ence while also having a good time. ,, I my .. ....
