JV5: Y0wfifM The JV's began the 1980 baseball season with two losses: 9-6 against Lakewood and 7-2 versus Bolsa Grande. The team was packed with youth as the nineteen man squad had 11 freshmen on it. The players needed to get a lot of playing time in and the schedule gave them that. The youngsters could have easily given up in game one against Lake- wood when they fell behind 4-0 in the first. But the team refused to fold and came back in the late innings. Standouts were Ralph Flores at shortstop and Mitch Lawbaugh at first. Paul Bryant was the old man of the pitching staff that also had three freshmen on it. ,jVBa.seba!Z 51 .I

fetus PowwQjB As of publication the 1980 Varsity Track team was having an outstanding ear with a record of 6-1. The highlight f the season was the 84-43 thrashing f Notre Dame. This was the first time 8osco had ever beaten the Knights in a track meet. Leading the Braves this year were the captains: Mark Samson in the shotput, in the 880 and 440, Steve Fillet in the hur- dles, and Victor Paredes in the sprints.
