Q ' W 5 ' :,5'w mi s ag ,Q hu- , f ...........,...---4 :- 1 in an ll I 5 A' an I 4 June of 1979 saw three groups of fifteen Bosco students under the guidance of Mr. Harper, depart for Dusselldorf Germany. Each group spent twenty-one days hiking from town to town in Northern Germany. The groups stayed in youth hostels and private homes. When the distance was too great between towns they went by train or bus. Their journey took them into the mid- dle of the NATO war games fwhere real ammunition was being usedj, to the con- centration camp where Anne Frank was intered, and to the school where Hitler trained young boys. The food consisted of coffee, tea and rolls for breakfast, lots of potatoes, veal, saurkraut, and traditional German drink for dinner. In all they walked 231 miles in twenty-one days. Yes they walked and walked and walked some more. But it was nice - it rained most of the time. Happily the German People were very friendly to these Bosco tourists. Finally the groups passed through cus- toms in Bangor, Maine on the return home. They all managed to bring home souvenirs, good memories of a wonderful experience, and no Money.
