l The 1978 Track Team was led by new Head Coach, Ed Hawkins. This is Mr. Hawkins' seventh year of coaching here at Bosco. The major portion of the squad is comprised of Juniors. Stand-outs among the Juniors are shot putter, Dave Lira, versatile middle and long distance runners, Phil Gonzalez, Jim Hunter, and Pat Bay. Senior stars include two-mile specialist, Greg Brownfield, and middle-distance runner, Larry ? Q S .fd x gf' if 'he 1977-1978 Braves experienced a leason of both victory and defeat. lthough the team finished under O0 for the season, it gave the fans any exciting and hard-fought games. Numerous losses this year by he Braves were decided by one and wo points, games that could have lone either way. The Braves showed iromise early by finishing second in he Gahr Tournament, but bad luck ind key injuries riddled the team hroughout the remainder of the Tear. it the helm of the Braves, in his econd year as varsity coach, was im Wilsak. The young Braves were ed by 2 year letterman and captain, Ld Guzman. The extremely talented ophomore guards, Steve Carfino nd Rich Escondon gave the Braves oth excellent play and hope for the iture. Senior Dr. J Joe Stephens xcited the crowd with his dazzling moves and dunks. With 2 starters nd 4 returning Juniors the Braves :ok forward to a more successful eason next year. l
