With nothing left, I must again begin. It ' s hard to start to build my dreams then find That I am left, and they have blown away. Today I wish that fate would be more kind And pin my dreams on me to make them stay. Although I know that life keeps passing by And dreams are not too hard to build again, I hope and pray this time my dreams won ' t fly. . . Or I ' ll be back again to where I ' ve been. So now that I have had my cry, I ' ll cease And start to build my dreams once more in peace. -Diana Nickels, ' 82 Rockey Cruz Kari Jonak Pressure The man stood at the free-throw line, The score was tied at forty-nine. The clock stood still — no time to go. The game depended on this throw. The ball went up, the crowd was quiet. It toppled in, there was a riot. The star was lifted, gone was sorrow. Today a star. What of tomorrow? -Gabriel Mendoza. ' 83

Mike Calka The Tide of Life The roar of winds and sounds of waves That flow about through jagged caves, The feel of sadness on this beach Makes happiness seem far from reach. In this, our world, we have to cope And learn to never give up hope. We persevere, just like the tide. Our feelings, we soon learn to hide. But one day soon, just like the wave, We ' ll have to venture from our cave. While wandering throughout our life. If it be with, or without strife, May we find joy in all we do And share that joy our whole life through! Pictures In The Dark Glancing at old pictures, I remember how great it once was. We brightened each other ' s dull lives And set goals as unreachable as the stars. But time passed, And the pictures are dull and faded now. I know you are no longer here. My days are filled with grief and solitude. All that is left is the memory of you, And how great it once was. -Cynthia Bishop, ' 82 Seabiscuit When I was small I was a horse (but only in my head, of course). My parents thought of me as strange And hoped and prayed for me to change. Well, now I ' m grown and yet today, They ' re never stunned to hear me neigh! -Simone Messerschmidt, ' 83 -Cathy Shannon.
