Sabol, Coach Andy Locatelli. ,Wifi if gv .'k'4K+A,nfT ln a word the 1962-63 edition of the Saint Francis basketball team could be called record breakers, most games won, championship at Carmel, consolation at the Mt. View tourney, and finishing with five straight victories including a thrilling 51-41 win over Bellarmine before the largest crowd ever in Raskob Gymnasium. The primary reason for the Lancers' fine showing was Ron Donovan, Most Valuable Player, second team All League, first Saint Francis player to score more than 300 points in one season l336l, and the tenth leading scorer in the C.A.L.-12.0 per game. The other guard position was superbly manned by Rich Farana, number two scorer-160 points, and the best defensive player on the team. He made All Tourney Carmel and Honorable Mention from the C.A.L. Dennis Reynolds was the big man in the rebounding department for the Lancers, seventh leading rebounder in the league,-296 for the season, a new record, and he made All Tourney Carmel. He is certainly one of the future bright spots for the Lancers! Terry Duggan, Most Improved Player, was a consistent performer. His record indicates an outstanding player next year. Art Chapman rounds out the starting Lancer five. He showed promise of becoming a great offensive threat in the year to come. John Coggins, despite his lack of headlines, has been one of the steadiest performers on the court for the past two years, No team is complete without its reserve strength, John Sabol, Bob Halderman, Jerry Dover, and Bill Fagan, gave no small part, for success. Coach Locatelli, in his farewell year, would like to thank publicly the Varsity Basketball team for its dedica- tion and loyalty throughout the season. Their determina- tion to excel both on and off the court was evident and indicative of fine basketball players.
