BELLARMINE Dave Riser scores the lone Lancer T.D. in one of the most hard fought games of the season. The Lancers played well but could not turn back the Bells who had to win to share in the C.A.L. Crown. Tim Ros- sovich who had been sidelined by a serious hip iniury was not in ac- tion. Mike Malachowski was a standout on defense, as he Iecl the team in tackles with 'I4. Mike Hib- Ier did the bulk of the running, car- rying the ball with his usual author- ity. Gale Miyahara, who was shift- ecl to holtback for this game, be- cause Tim Brown was iniured, did a fine iob. The Lancers played well but could not get the win they wanted so very badly. Pat Reynolds starts to head up field on a punt return as Riser and Soper set for action. MARY'S lRA l xr ln this game St. Francis at least cincned a tie for the C.A.L, Title. lt was a hard fought contest throughout the first half, but the Lancers showed that they were a team that does not quit. After being behind at the half 14 to 13, on a T.D. by Hibler and a pass from Miyahara to Riser, they put on a great second half effort. After the second half kickoff the stiff Lancer defense did not crack. They were led by Sivley and Salisbury, again doing superbly. Jerry Dover blocked St. Mary's punt attempt and Mike Hibler carried it in for the score. Hibler again scored on o 2 yard smash after Riser skillfully directed the team into scoring position. J. C. Schmitz scored on a I0 yard run and Tim Rosso- vich added his third P.A.T. of the afternoon. The Lancer exubere ance is shown by the picture above.
