.Queeg a 4 ' o ' n ' n - I n .., ,., On February 18, 1963, Gregory Bontempi was summoned by God to his eternal reward. All of us who knew Greg knew him as a friend and as a model: he was an inspiration to everyone. So recognized were his virtues that on a question- naire sent to his entire class, Greg was the boy most- named as the student who influences me the most for the better. He used all of the attributes, or graces that God gave him with which to face life, to perfect himself, and these graces were many-a religious spirit, a happy disposition, a wonderful family, intelligence, good looks, popularity, and, later, sickness and suffering. Even to his death he was the exemplar of what we all wish to be. So typical of him cooperating with grace in uncomplain- ingly accepting his greatest suffering were the last words he spoke, Thank you. But Greg was not only a model, he was a friend. He had a quality about him which made everyone who ever knew him feel close to him and want to be his friend. Thank God that we were, and still are, drawn near to him, that being his friends, he can know our every movement, our every fall, and can constantly intercede for us. The Church encourages us all to pray for one until a positive sign is given of his sainthood. And we should pray for Greg. But, too, we should pray to him . . .we will never be refused. His beautiful life and his holy death make us pray: Our model our friend and really, our hero - Greg Bontempi - may God ever love him more and more.
