FllllllSl1LIllll Doyle. They pass on along the pathway of life to continue their wonderful work of helping their unfortunate fellow-men. Next appears a small but very business-like looking woman. She smiles with the contentment and happiness which comes to those who have gained suc- cess in this world. Anna Marie Koester now owner of a large chain of fashion- able cafeterias. But now my attention is again drawn to the center of the stage. Soft music fills the air. First the light is thrown on the orchestra. There in immaculate evening dress stands Harold McCurdy, the director, who is now even more popular than the great Rudy Vallee. The light is turned to the other side of the stage and from the wings trip four dainty girls, dressed in gorgeous oos- tumes. They dance with beautiful, graceful movements to the soft dreamy music. Lorraine, Virginia, Elaine and Dorothy finish their dance, bow and smile and then disappear to trip their way gracefully and happily through the future. I hear a loud pounding noise and as the curtain rises on the scene of a court room. I see Judge Hartman calling the court to order. Before him stands Officer McCallin and beside him there is a tall, beautiful woman. As she turns and faces the judge I recognize the famous actress Ursula Alvey. She now starts to speak and tries to explain that she was sure she was not going more than thirty miles an hour, and now she would be late for a very important en- gagement to have her portrait painted by the celebrated artist, Janette Yeggy. The judge dismisses the case and Officer McCallin hurries away to see his friend Pat Ross, now a. great baseball player, play in the greatest game of the season. The noise of cheering crowds in the grandstand fades away and the soft haunting strains of an organ fills the air. I see a magnificent church crowded with people. The tall figure of a priest advances towards the altar, mounts the steps and as he turns to begin the man I see his face. It is Thomas, now Rev. Bogard, about to celebrate his first mass. As he begins a beautiful voice is heard from the choir, I turn and see Isabel, her face raised to heaven as she sings the praises of God, while Mary plays the beautiful accompaniment on the organ. As the last notes die away the lights go out one by one leaving darkness, just as each old friend passes from the stage of life and disappeared into the dark- ness of the future. Suddenly I am back by my window and the clock strikes twelve. I hurry to my bed and fall asleep with the memory of their faces before me. How happy they all seem, and God bless them every one.
