Cfadd .ilwforg September 1951 found fortv SIX freshmen eager for the prlvlleges of hlgh school nlneteen or1g1nal elghth graders from here and twenty seven outslders Wlth the help of Sr Jane Frances we elected as offlcers Vlfgll Betty Archle and Inez and Noreen was sent to the Student Councll Immedlately we set out 1n taklng part ln school 3Ct1VItl8S Slxteen glrls and SIX boys Jolned the Glee Clubs We provlded entertam ment for the carmval Wlth our one act comedy Elmer When we came 1n second 1n the Carn1val Queen contest wlth Annette as our cand1date we surely surprlsed everyone FIVG quallfled for the Junlor basketball team Whlle Betty and Ann were cheerleaders Thlrty f1VC of us Jomed the Sodahty Rev Father Breltenbach led us ln our flrst retreat as lt was a new exper1ence for all of us we enjoyed lt to the utmost Towards the end of our freshmen year we were all saddened at the event of Danny Langevm drownmg ln Lake Elsle but he w1ll always be remembered ln our prayers Although we were depleted to forty ln number we agaln began to cllmb the trall upward Our vacant seats were f1lled by Eugene Joan and Gall Agaln under the guldance of Sr Jane Frances we set out w1th Noreen Betty Eugene and Alf as our leaders In the Carn1val Queen race we galned the crown wlth Margle as Queen Betty and Kay were chosen to lead the Pep Squad whlle Bobby Bruce Kelth and Archle helped make the scores An attempt was made to re organlze the Band and Vernon Margaret Romelle Noreen and Rosemary each took up an lnstrument Retreat under the guldance of Father Clarls was much better understood and appreclated by all As full fledged upperclassmen we launched lnto our Junlor year We mlSS8d a few classmates but welcomed Jean Barbara and Bosco who stxll kept our number up to fortv We trusted LOIS Mlckey Romelle and Queen contest wlth Kathleen as our cand1date we were kept down to a cool th1rd thls tlme Prom our ma1n progect was a blg success Th theme of Stalrway to the Stars carrled out to perfectlon along wlth the muslc furnlshed by the Melody Aces made the n1ght unforgettable for everyone Precedlng the dance all Junlors and semors attended a banquet put on by the Jumors mothers Durmg the basketball season we were kept busy Wlth Lee as captaln and Betty and Kay as cheerleaders Annette Joan Mlckey and Lo1s took part ln the Junlor Semor cla s play In November we were deeply stxrred by the 1nsp1r1ng conferences of our retreat master Rev Father Melnrad Betty and Bob were elected as off1cers ln the Sodahty Rosemary was chosen as Delegate to the conven tlon 1n Fargo Not belng qulte m love wlth books Eugene declded to call lt qults After havlng la1n dormant for some t1me the school paper was rev1ved under the d1rect1on of Sxster Veromca On February 2nd the class sponsored a Marlan Assembly Annette was sent to Glrls State and Kennle to Boys State As a glft to the school the class gave S75 00 toward the purchase of a new scoreboard for the gymnas1um In September of 54 we started our senlor year w1th the a1m of maklng It unforgettable for everyone To help llven up our class Delphme and Magdalen Jolned us Romelle Lee Rosemary and Bobby started plannmg projects wlth Sr Dorothea as our class advlsor Desplte endless efforts we had to be sat1sf1ed w1th only second place 1n the campalgn for Carnlval Queen wlth Romelle as our pr1ncess elect Our retreat master Rev Father Boyle gave us some 1deas and rules on the game of hfe whlch w1ll prove useful when we leave St Franc1s Our f1rst Progect an 1n1t1at1ng school party 1n the lmmense gym went over wlth a bang Next we concentrated on an assembly for the clos1ng of the Marlan Year Betty and Romelle were cheerleaders wlth Bob Bruce Alf and Archle all trylng to gam a name IH the Hall of Fame-our basketball team set out for a hard season Mark acted as sports writer Once provlslons got underway for MEMORIES of 55 all helped together to make It a Joy to ltS readers ln the future I Y y I- . . . 3 - .
