Can she bake a cherry pie ... The St. Edward Future Homemakers of America Chapter has a membership of 40 girls. This year the organization met the first Monday of each month. To help achieve one of their goals—to promote international good will—the chapter collected clothing for Bundle Day. These articles were then packaged and senl abroad to help the needy people of other countries. Another goal stressed was that of providing wholesome individual and group recreation. At each meeting some form of recreation was provided—either singing or ihe playing of games—and the group also entertained the F. F. A. fellows and the eighth grade girls at parties during the year. Some of the other activities included the selling of candy with the F. F. A. at football and basket ball games and during noon hours. At Christmas the girls fixed boxes of food that were given to the Thompson’s Nursing Home. The Future Homemakers were under the leadership of Muriel Shell, president; JoAnn McColl, vice-president; Nellie Zabka, secretary; Evelyn Reardon, treasurer; JoAnn Swanson, news reporter; Donna Potter, song leader; Donna Phillips, historian; and Eva Jones recreation chairman.

The organization met the first Monday evening of each month. The aims of the organization are to develop competent, aggressive rural and agricultural leadership; to encourage members in the development of individual farming programs and establishment in farming; and to participate in cooperative effort. Requirements for membership are to be enrolled in vocational agriculture and to have a suitable project program. The competitive record of the F. F. A. was outstanding for the year. The judging team composed of Harold Johnson, Don Moore, Harold Thompson, and Norman Reardon went to the Hereford Judging Contest at Grand Island and took 4th place in state-wide competition. Harold Thompson placed 1st in individual judging. The St. Edward Chapter, represented by the first five officers, took 2nd place honors in the Parliamentary Procedure Contest, District 4, at Norfolk. The Chapter was under the leadership of Don Moore, president; Robert West-more, vice-president; Harold Johnson, secretary; Bill Snavely, treasurer; Bob Raitt, news reporter; and Lyle Reed, sentinel.
