Banquet ballad honors athletes The gold records ol the sports world were awarded at the annual Athletic Banquet on April 23. Senator Iames E. Cunningham and Mayor Raymond Gregory topped the list ol honored guests. An overture oi the year's achievemefts in sportsmanship and athletic ability hiqhzoted the evenixq. 71 Honor quests and students enioyed the roast beef dinner, the speeches of the honored dignitaries, and the awards' presentation. The banquet was prepared by the Parents' Club and served by the faithful lrosh. Outstanding boy athletes were presented their trophies by, l. to r., Monsignor Daniel I. Ryan, Iim Mealey, Bill Harrison, Father Iames Regan, Bob Bates. and Perry Winstead. The boys receiving these awards are. l. to r., Iohn Blakely. instrument of peace Strictly Instrumental in bu1lding school spirit is the GLA. A. They began the steady drive of good sportsmanship in early October with the intramural tournament. The seniors were victorious for the second time. lnter-school volleyball began in Novem- ber with a mighty team losing only to lmmaculate Heart. The winter months brought the Crusaderettes' favorite sport, basketball, Lettergirls lent a helping hand during the grammar school tourney by scoring, timing, and serving refreshments. ln March, St. Anthonys Tournament drew the attention of the student body, and Crusaderette spirit reached its height. Spring brought intramural basketball. The sophomores won this event with a tremendous show of enthusiasm. The years climax came with the Awards' Banquet and the presentation ot letters tor sports participation. Spirit! Pep! Action!
