MA prop my jdozf .... On an early September evening in the year 1958, some of the faculty members of St. Bernard High will be holding a reunion at Miss Stuerwald's home. Television by this time will have reached such development that it will be possible merely by wishful thinking to tune in the subject you wish to see. Someone has taken down from the bookshelf a copy of the 1950 ST. BERNARDIAN, and as he turns the pages this is what appears on the magic screen: Sydney Lou Madden and Nancy Reed ilit by in their lovely nylon nurses' uniforms. Mary Lou Ward is at home grading a math test which she has given that day. Clarence Dye is studying over a surveying report he has just finished. Bob Spelman and Ray Pfriem are working in a private lab at Proctor's on a new and even greater soap than good old Ivory. .lim Rutemueller is a referee at a basketball game at the Gardens. Why? lim's put on too many pounds to play the game himself. Ray Garland is in charge of the night shift at Cincin- nati Milling. And it looks as if the girls have taken over the Proctor office. Yes, the office club is meeting to- night at Jo Ann Miller's and there is the old gang-Shirley, Lil, Alta, Marge, and .lo Ann Winkle. Listening in on their gossip, the faculty learn that Clarice is now a famous artist in New York, and that Jean Westerman has finally settled for one man ffor lifelj 3 that Norma is teaching shorthand at a commercial school, and that Bev is headed for the position of Commander of the Waves. What ever became of Bruce ? asks one of the faculty. Presto! There is Bruce taking news photos for Time. And look! He's taking pictures of that professional football game, and therels Jerry Burgoyne, Robert Claire, and Gene Masters playing in that game. As the television eye turns on the stands there is the old shop gang-Charles Brown, Dale, Don Eastham, Bob Haarman, Earl, and Bill Luebbering. And their conversation seems to indicate that they own their own machine tool foundry. But wait! Who's that selling malts? Bob Varner, no less. The gang is joined by three other members of the class-they were delayed by a breakdown of Eugene Farmer's latest Model-T. Yes, you guessed it-Les Gajus, who is his partner in the museum of transportation, and Eugenie Cooley who is head doorman and guide. '6But where are the others ? thinks another gray-haired teacher. The scene changes and who steps up next but that Frankie Lane boy, Des Moore, assisted by James Schaffner. Sponsors for the program are the famous Wiehe restaurants, which are located all over the state. Next booked for television wrestling is Don Roark who is meeting Gorgeous George this evening. The magic screen changes and here is an interview going on. The celebreties are Dick Myers, sensational World Series player, and Bill Kirby, who has just been hired to coach the Bears. The interviewer looks fa- miliar. Of course! It's none other than the columnist, Ed Bayer, who has worked up from oliice boy at the Cin- cinnati Star Post. The faculty have grown a bit stiff from a long evening of sitting, so they decide to tune in a square dance program-the caller is so good they say. But naturally, for he is none other than Al Schoenfeld-that noisy lad of the Class of '50 with the becoming smile and the booming voice. And so we phophesy that the evening ends in merriment among the faculty. T wenty-two
