She plans to attend U. C. Bierman HERMESCH Ready to greet you with a big smile. Quite a wit, his gay remarks break the peace of the English class. Well liked. A fashion plate. And an expert on skates. Likes to drive his ear in snowy weather. llomim' IIINKEN Bob knows more than he pretends to know. Extremely modest and quiet in class, reliable in the shop in running the maehines, and a busy worker outside of school. Slips into homeroom just before the tarcly bell. PAllLlNli IIOLTZCLAW Since Pauline went into Industrial Chemistry this year, we haven't seen too much of her. We're sure that Pauline is too sweet and pretty to be wasted in chemistry. She won't he, if that diamond ring means anything. SHIRLEY JACKSON Shirley has been cheering our teams on to victory since she was in the 7th grade, and she really rates l'tops in her work. She herself has been active in girls' sports. She's the shuiileboard champion. EDNA Arrce KELLEY Made a wonderful scatter-brained mother in the Senior Class play. Can really chatter the French language. Active as a cheerleader and as a Ring girl in the Y-Teen work. Always has a smile for everyone. Eawnsr Knocen Dehnitely a cut-up. just fitted the part in the class play. How he kept from blowing up the lab in Industrial Chem- istry is still something of a miracle. A rhythm maker in the band. joycs ANN Leumsn Plainville's loss, St. Bernardls gain. Although a newcomer this year, Ioyce has been a most popular girl. Showed her dramatic ability in our play. Always ready with a bright remark. Has lovely complexion. Seventeen

RUTH EVANS Ruth is the Dresden doll type-tiny and sweet. But for all her apparent silence, Ruthie can give out with a line of gab like nobody's business. Her favorite topic, of course, is Les. SHIRLEY Ficicrz The other half of the Ficke-Roberts duo. Always ready for a joke and known for her giggle. Shirley rates high in sports, especially when it comes to dropping a basketball through the hoop. A ready, dependable worker. ARv1L GARRETT Arvil has beautiful, deep, red, curly hair. Ready with a friendly word or smile, he is always willing to help with those skills he has learned in shop. Likes to sing those hill-billy songs with Bill and Cookie RALPH GRUENSCHLAEGER One of our class coming from Hartwell, Ralph lost no time in making friends at St. Bemard. A good speech student, Ralph kept the economic class discussions lively with his arguments. Can always think up a good story. Sixteen BENNIE HAGGARD A rugged member of the football team. Quiet, but watch out for his temper. Possesses a pleasing drawl. Likes to tell jokes to Chester and George in homeroom period. Didrft like history too well. WINIFRED HAMMER Winnie has been the star support of the Elmwood Eagles dances. She really can dance, too. Her wonderful sense of humor bubbles over in giggles. Usually seen with Pat Reardon. Did well in the class play. DON HAMPEL Born to be a natural comedian, Hamp is easy going and self reliant. Eager to make friends and easy to get along with, Don is a favorite among students and faculty. Made a wonderful father in the Senior Class play. x Z V X xr MARCELLA HARPER l Marcella came to us from O.L.A. to Hnish her commercial course. She is always pleasant and friendly to everyone. She is positively ingenious when it comes to thinking up excuses for being late.

Drug store worker in off hours. JACK BIUQUEARY An ex-service man, jack decided to finish his education in night school and get his diploma from St. Bernard High, which he left to enter the service. Alumni will remember him for his football playing. JANIES lXlART1N Our ex-Marine Buzz possesses a winning smile and a glib tongue. He is equally at home on the track or the football field, where he has helped us greatly. Quiet but friendly. Expects to go on to college. FRED AIIDDENDORF Fritz is modest and retiring in class, but in the field of sports he's quite the opposite, being fast and scrappy. Is Seen dancing at every canteen. And is he good! Likes to tease the girls. Fzglzteeiz PERRY NIORGAN Adored by the girls, Perry was voted the Heart-throb of 1949. His skill and cool-headed ways made him a valuable player for St. Bernard in basketball and football. Acquired H... M..... X L' A0 a deep Russian accent for the play. Jim has brought forth many a laugh by his witty remarks. He'd rather draw and look at new cars than eat. Liked to read in the library. Lois ANN NIEMANN Noted for her short, curly hair, Lois is one of the most popular senior girls. At home in a test or on the basketball court. An active member of many organizations.
