rough the .gnspiration of the Tnasters In English Classes, each Basilianette embarks on new activities and participates in new adventures- experiments in composition work, letter writing, literature and choral speaking. Fundamental prin- ciples of English paragraph writing and grammar, regarded as unbearable now, will, if mastered in youth, give each one confidence and courage when she is called upon to defend her faith and rights. Jean Ratferty and Mary Ann Richter check Mary Ellen McDonold's diagram, Anne Stevens consults the textbook. Compiling the necessary information for their English theses, we find Carol Farrello and Dorothy Miller spending their spare time in the library. Conversation, well recognized by the maiority of girls, is the basis of all communications. Since we shall come in contact with people, converse with them and be called upon tofexpress our opinions, practical exercises in the form of experiments help the students to become efficient speakers in society -at home, in school, and in business. Through all these experiments, whether or not now tedious, we will discover much that will help us in the still greater and more important voyage of life. If we look upon our assignments as a preparation for future participation in the citizenship of the world, we shall be able to meet our problems with fortitude and courtesy.
