During this period we learn the history of music and its progress from primitive times to the present symphonic and rock and roll music. We learn about the four main divisions of instruments and how they have been improved through the ages. ln this way we learn to appreciate the man-made instruments that bring such pleasure to the ear. We also get the opportunity to exercise our vocal cords by rendering a solo or by ioining with the whole class in singing some favorite folk songs. In art class we are taught the proper uses of paints, crayons, and clay.
