Cgilzrouglz the jpjports of the efaureate Marie Burns, Betsy Staples, Gloria Flores, Patricia Gill, Leona Minnich- bach, Marie Brown, and Sheila Cough- lan are all happy to be a part of the LAUREATE staff. Sheila Coughlan, Mary Dil- lon, Marie Burns, Aileen Fitzpatrick, and Carol Fox wait their turn while Joanne Fries types her stencil for the LAUREATE. Oksana Hrycko and Carol Juzwiak jot down ideas for their pen portraits with hopes it might be LAUREATE material. Q G r af fl -'li X ,qv-fb .Z The senior class of 1949, in order to encourage and display the literary talents of each Basilianette, conceived the idea of publishing a magazine of poems, short stories, and essays. And so it was, that iust ten years ago the LAUREATE first appeared on the scene at Saint Basil Academy. Now drawing to the close of its first decade, it can boast of many improvements. Originally mimeographed and held together with cord, the LAUREATE is now elece trically typewritten and bound with plastic. One thing, however, has remained the same. Each class has endeavored to inculculate a deep appreciation of literature in the heart of each girl by putting forth only the finest of the contributions by the student body. Thus has the LAUREATE lived up to its well-chosen name mean- ing giver of the best. We have done our utmost to uphold the standards set for us by previous classes, and we leave SBA confident that this tradition will be well carried on by the seniors of each decade to come.
