Season Improves This year's captain was Terry Samples who played fullback on olfense and linebacker on defense. He did a fine job as a team leader and was one of the best tacklers on our squad. The Jr. Varsity's most valuable player was Tony Lofaso. He was offensive quarterback and a line- backer for defense. Tony will be an outstanding player for next year's Cougar varsity squad. Our Jr. Varsity team had a rough season this year due to lack of experience, but as the season went on we saw much improvement in our players. Kochel started coaching the J .V.'s this year when Coach Mickey Perry moved up to coaching Varsity Basketball, leaving the position open to a young new coach like Kochel. Bruce Ellison, the starting center, was most valuable player. He set a new J.V. scoring record with 40 points against Camarillo. These boys will make up next years Varsity Team.
