Iffwn. 88 Student salesmanship, sparked by the winning seniors, and cooperation from business patrons combined to make the Tower drive a success again this year. Succeeding her sister, Queen Shirley '62, Kathleen Hinckley ascended to the throne and was crowned by Peggy Collins, Tower Editor. After the ceremony, Queen Kathleen, the court, faculty and guests were served refreshments in the Library. The Queen and her family enjoy refreshments served in the library after the coronation.

P el' is Carols and hymns sung by the Choral provide background music for the Christ- mas play. Jeannie Godfrey explains the true meaning of Christmas to a Last-minute emergencies backstage call for quick action by Mrs. Reeves, drama director. I7 Through the combined efforts of the Drama and Choral Departments, the annual Advent pro- gram, including carols, readings and tableau, was presented on December 19. Set in a contemporary scene, the play was unusually successful in convey- ing to the audience the true Christmas spirit of selflessness and charity as opposed to the materi- alism emphasized in the modern world. The entire program inspired in the student body the hope and peace of the joyous Christmas season.

Hard working sophomores install sidewalk cafe. Willkommen im Hof Brau I ,,1,.......,.3. G5 Linda Nicassio supervises the planting of ivy decorations. In presenting their dance, Hofbra1f'Hop, the sophomores ex- tended warmth and friendliness in a typical German manner. The decorations of multi-colored Christmas bulbs, strung along the walls of the auditorium, supplied a unique atmosphere, further enhanced by a sidewalk cafe set up on the stage. Refreshments? ja,wohl ! Old fashioned steins were filled with root beer, and wicker baskets on tables covered with red and white cloths, con- tained pretzels. Music by the Cresremlos invited the guests to join their friends for an evening of old world fun and hospitality. Du, du liegst mir im Herzen . . . all agree that it is wunderbar. 89
